When were vibrators invented? the first Steam-powered vibrating devices were patented in the 1870s by George Taylor. They were used as a way to treat "hysteria" in women. in 1880 Joseph Mortimer Granville, a British physician, created the first electric vibrator. the British DR used it to massage male skeletal muscles. vibrators today use the same technology for different purpose.
